Morgan Sterling's Favorite Fantasy TV Shows #UrbanRomance

I love a great fantasy TV series! I used to get sucked in growing up. Now, I will watch and rewatch them. Here, in no particular order are ten of my favorites.

1. The Highlander (1992-98). I loved the movies, and honestly, the TV show was better. Yeah, I said it. It gave the world depth, and the characters meaning and intention… and there was lots of beheadings!

2. Stargate SG1(1997-07). It’s another franchise that has great movies, and even better TV shows. I love this series. It’s a touch of fantasy in a world of Sci-fi, which I love.

3. The X-Files (1993-2018). I’m a believer. You heard me. It touched on so many beliefs, legends, myths, and stories, what’s not to love. They said the truth is out there–and I think while it was a fictional show it might have peeked at the real. I mean, they can’t all be made up stories, can they?

4. Hercules/Xena (1995-2001). I love Gods, Monsters, and Heroes. In fact one of my upcoming series is based on some, though not the Greek ones. I used to love watching these shows, and am still down to cosplay the Warrior Princess at any given time.

5. Once Upon A Time (2011-18). I don’t even like soap operas–but this took classic stories and added the drama. Scandal! Jealousy! Evil Spells! What’s not to like. It streched the known stories in unusual ways that my adult mind enjoyed.

6. Sliders (1995-2000). I loved this series with Jerry O’Connell. It blended history, fantasy, and a bit of sci-fi. Loved it!

7. I Dream of Jeaanie (1965-1970). Yes, I know that is’t full of old-school thinking, chauvinism, and stereotyping. However, for it’s time it was pretty funny. I remember the antics. It made me love genies when I was young. No I’m not so old that watched them when they came out, I watched it on classic TV. And that it is, a classic.

8. The Twilight Zone (1959–whenever they stop making them). This has always been a form for great stories. I consider it a version of ‘short story telling’. I can sit for an episode and get taken away. Where will I end up? What will happen? Changes from episode to episode. I love the variety, and there were some great stories that really made you think that came from it!

9. The Addams Family (1964-1966). Even before the reboot, which fantastic, I loved this. I mean, what is not to love about this family? I was Wenesday growing up, now I’m Morticia. Sexy, gothic, and family oriented? Yes please!

10. The Six-Million Dollar Man (1974-1978). It’s another classic. For it’s time a lot of time, money, and energy was poured into the show. It so good that a you can still get into it for some inspiration as a creator, or just for some enjoyment as a watcher. Love it!

Of course, this is just a few shows I enjoy, all concentrated in the fantasy genre. There are tons more. A good show can spark the imagination just as much as a good book!

Excerpt:

We reached across the table to clink our glasses together.

"No one understands me either," we said in unison.

I blushed. His scent of fresh soap and spiced cologne intoxicated me as if I could taste it on my tongue.

The server asked if we needed another round, but we both declined. Langston waved him off kindly and said we should get some air.

Outside, the cool night air felt good against my skin. The stars twinkled above us, and Langston pointed out constellations like reading a book. Orion, Cassiopeia, and others. I let out a small gasp when he told me there was one that resembled a man with a star for a crown.

"Wow. That's the first time anyone's ever shown me that," I whispered, goosebumps prickling my arms.

He smiled. "Imagine how people used to look up at stars, see images, paint pictures." He blew out a breath in a cloud in the cold air. His nose was starting to turn red. He looked adorable. But he didn't seem to notice the cold as he looked up. "Fantasies in the sky."

He looked down at me but said nothing as he wrapped his arms around himself to stay warm.

"So, tell me about your fantasies," he murmured into the silence.

"Huh?" I blinked, caught off guard by his directness.

He chuckled. "You know, what do you like to dream about when the stars come out? What turns you on?" His voice was deep and husky, sending shivers down my spine.

"I don't know," my eyes lowered nervously. "I've never really thought about it." My cheeks flushed as I realized how naive that sounded.

"I don't think that's true," he began, taking my hand into both of his. He blew onto them, his hot breath hitting my cold skin. And his lips, so soft, brushed against the palm of my hand.

A moment later Langston pulled me in for a warm kiss. When our lips met, a fire ignited, spreading like wildfire through my veins. Langston's mouth moved against mine with a fervor that matched the intensity of the kiss. His lips were soft and pliant, molding perfectly to mine.

I tasted the remnants of the wine on his lips, an intoxicating blend mingling with the sweetness of his breath. His heat enveloped me, seeping into my skin. Gathering my hair peeking from under my hat, he tangled it in his fingers, willing my head back, my lips parted. His other hand slipped past my bomber jacket, onto my butt, pulling me closer.

A moan escaped me instinctually. It was all he needed to pull me in further, his tongue exploring my mouth.

My pulse pulsed, feeling him press against me.

"God damn it," he said, pulling away, searching my eyes as I searched his back for answers to unasked questions.

"I think- I think I should head home." I took wobbly steps back, cold air rushing between us. I did not come to Chicago for this - the last thing I needed.

I waved briefly and left him confused on the cold Chicago street. And if he felt only a pinch of what I did, I also left him horny as hell.
