Interview - A Cry in the Moon’s Light and Father Daniel’s Compendium of the Undead by Alan McGill

- What is your “day” job if you are not a full time author?

I do some work for non-profits helping folks with educational needs.

- If you wrote a book about your life what would the title be?

Must Love Dogs…and Cats

- What is the hardest thing about being an author?

The editing and marketing process. I can crank out stories all day long but polishing them and then marketing is time consuming that takes away from storytelling!

- What is the best thing about being an author?

Going into the world you’ve created. I love being in there. It’s like I have a front row seat to a show that I would sit and watch.

- Have you ever been star-struck by meeting one of your favorite authors? If so who was it?

Not a fellow author. In fact, I’ve never met a fellow author. Come to think of it, I’ve never met too many celebrities either. I did enjoy meeting “Chilly Billy” Cardilleonce and loved it. I also met Adam West. He was the sweetest guy. He signed my Batmobile, which is my favorite piece of memorabilia.

- What book changed your life?

Can’t say any book ever changed my life. I just like to be entertained and there are many that provided a nice respite from the world. The Dark Tower series by King for example.

- What were some of your favorite books growing up?

I loved Cannery Row by Steinbeck. The Lone Ranger books were a favorite. I loved the Princess of Mars series by Burrows too. And anything about Bigfoot.

- What books are currently in your to-be-read pile?

My Fatale Futility by N.J.M.Hemfrey

The Gothic Adventures of Gertrude Grizzly by Shelly Schwartz

Paranormal Society by A.D. Wills

- Which do you prefer ebooks, print, or audiobooks?

Print mostly. I get the appeal of ebooks in that you can have so many, but there is just something about a beautifully put together print that you can’t get in an ebook. Audiobooks are okay, but I haven’t found too many that inspired me. It’s why I went the extra mile with sound effects, character voices and an original score in mine.

- If you could live inside the world of a book or series which world would it be and why?

I know it’s self-serving, but A Cry in the Moon’s Light. Castles, muskets, werewolves, witches and a whole host of other night creatures. That sounds terrifying and amazing.
If not mine, then the Dark Tower. It would be cool to fight alongside Roland.

About the Author:

Alan McGill is an American author who lives in an old farmhouse with a clowder of cats. Alan was close to his grandparents, who grew up during the Great Depression. They were married young and remained together until his grandmother's passing. His grandfather served in the Navy during WWII and was a gifted storyteller who wove humorous tales about tough events.

Alan grew up listening to these stories of right and wrong and watching fictional heroes--such as the Lone Ranger, Adam West's Batman and Captain America--stand up to bullies and protect those who count not protect themselves. This inspired him to always do what was right in his own life and shaped his love of storytelling.

He is a multi genre author whose debut novel, A Cry in the Moon's Light, combines horror, romance, and mystery. As with all his books, A Cry in the Moon's Light centers on characters who strive to do the right thing regardless of the adversity they face. The book focuses on the theme of love--a pure and deep love that defeats all evil.
